Being prepared looks a little different at this stage of life. The supplies matter. So do the details.

The Senior Ready Bundle is built for older adults and the family members who worry about them. It pairs the Guardian Go 2-Person Kit with the Power Outage Premium Kit. Two complete home emergency kits, sized for one or two people, covering the essentials while leaving room for the personal items that matter most.

The Guardian Go covers food, water, and core survival supplies for two people. The Power Outage Premium covers light and information, which is what a long outage actually calls for. Its hand-crank radio and flashlight need no batteries at all, and that matters when an outage runs past the point where everything else has died.

This bundle covers the foundation. The Pro Tips below cover the rest, including the 30-day medication supply the Red Cross recommends for older adults.

For a complete list of what to add for your senior's specific needs beyond what any kit can include, see our Senior Emergency Preparedness Checklist.

Your Senior Emergency Planning Guide is waiting on your order confirmation page right after checkout. Grab it before you close the page. It's a fillable guide for medications, medical contacts, insurance information, and the support network around your household.

Like everything we sell, this bundle sends one dollar per item to the National Forest Foundation.

Who This Kit Is For

This bundle is for older adults who want to be genuinely prepared, and for the adult children and family members who want that peace of mind too. It is a strong fit for anyone living independently or with a spouse, in an area prone to power outages, winter storms, or natural disasters.

It also makes a thoughtful gift for a parent or grandparent who would not think to buy it for themselves. See our guide to giving an emergency kit as a gift.

Pro Tips

  • These kits cover the foundation: food, water, light, and power. The rest is personal, and no pre-packed kit can anticipate it. The Senior Emergency Planning Guide walks through all of it.
  • Prescriptions: for older adults specifically, the American Red Cross recommends keeping at least a 30-day supply of each medication, which is longer than the one-week figure they give for households generally. Ask your pharmacist how to build that cushion without running short at the end of a month, and ask what your state allows for emergency refills.
  • Hearing aid batteries: pack a full set of backups in the kit right now, or a charger if the aids are rechargeable. They are small, easy to forget, and central to being able to communicate.
  • Glasses and contacts: include a backup pair of glasses or a supply of contacts and solution. Both appear on every official older-adult checklist.
  • CPAP and medical devices: the Power Outage Premium Kit provides light and information, not device power. Confirm what your device needs, how long its battery lasts away from wall power, and where you would go when the backup runs out.
  • Medication that has to stay cold: decide now how you would keep it cold if the power stops. A small cooler and ice packs is usually the answer.
  • Medical alert device: make sure it is charged and that your monitoring service has current emergency contact information.
  • Important documents: store copies of insurance cards, Medicare or Medicaid information, advance directives, and emergency contacts in a waterproof sleeve inside the kit. Adult children should have copies too.
  • Check both kits twice a year, and any time something changes. If you are buying this bundle for a parent or grandparent, sit down and walk through both kits together. Familiarity with the contents matters as much as having them.

Size & Storage

Guardian Go 2-Person Kit: 19 x 15 x 10" / 15 lbs Power Outage Premium Kit: 14 x 10 x 6" / 4.5 lbs Combined weight: 19.5 lbs The Guardian Go at 15 pounds is heavier than it sounds, so store it somewhere reachable without stairs. A main-floor closet beats a basement shelf. The Power Outage Premium is light enough to keep anywhere, and it should live somewhere findable in the dark. The same spot, every time. Make sure a trusted family member or neighbor knows where both are.

Good to Know...

Why does preparedness look different for older adults?

The supplies are much the same. What changes is everything around them.

Medications become the centre of the plan rather than an afterthought, which is why the Red Cross recommends a 30-day supply for older adults instead of the one week they suggest generally. Anything that runs on electricity needs a backup, and a plan for when the backup runs out. Weight matters, so a kit on a basement shelf is a kit that stays there. And the support network matters most of all: who has a key, who knows where the kit is, and who knows how the equipment works.

Ready.gov, FEMA's preparedness campaign, makes the same point in its guidance for people with access and functional needs. The plan is the part that takes an afternoon. The kit is the part you can order today.
